Its usually all the French crap cars that go wrong not the German's. But then the French would always blame the German's wouldn't they. LOL
That's a sweeping statement. JD Power surveys do not rate VAG products highly and boatload of VAG BEV's just spontaneously combusted and sank the ship. The Audi Etron is subject to a recall.
Personally I have had 4 Renaults, 3 new and one second hand that were virtually trouble free and two Citroens also trouble free. I have had 2 brand new German vehicles, both top my bad vehicle list, I got rid of both at BCA before the warranty ran out, they make the P38 look like a paragon of reliability.
So it comes down to personal experience. I used to do 50K plus miles per annum, so reliability was important.

Not a big fan of any of the modern plastic tech ridden crap tbh....
They are pretty much the same tech, engines and running gear.. Although some are worse than others.. So much tech and so little quality.
VAG use motors with brushes in the id 3 & id 4, guaranteed to wear out:rolleyes: Others use various types of brushless motors.

I’ve only needed to replace the battery in my L405 once and that was as an emergency when the OEM one failed. I had to fit all that was available - it was a brand I hadn’t heard of and after about 9 months, I suspect it’s failing.
Stop start cars have a second battery.
I know this video relates to motorcycles (my other hobby), but it’s entertaining and it gives lots of useful background information on AGM, gel and lithium batteries:
