What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Put the seat box back in today and got those pesky brackets sorted. She’s really coming along now.
Just fitted the hand brake lever back in - where does the metal P-clip on the handbrake cable screw to though?

Spent the last few days tidying up my interior a bit more.

finally got rid of the home made bulkhead storage to replaced with something from Exmoor trim

Found that the passenger side has 2 draughts. (Only realised as I have been demoted to that side of the motor for a few days)
So 1 is a piece of rubber between door tops(bit of double sided tape to resolve)
1 cheap door rubber too short.. find old piece and add extra to base.

plus side heater works well & mrs enjoys the landy(as drivers side has no draughts)

Started taking the fuel tank out, 5hrs later it’s still there as the last bolt is an utter b’stard to get free. All Rusted to buggery, can’t get sockets( 6or 12) or spanner’s to stay on, no access for a blade and, worst of all, the outrigger by the filler neck is held together by rust.

More bits ordered…..I hate Land Rovers

Took my daughter for a spin round the field in the work-in-progress 110.
Oh the joy of having her running at last.

Fitted some grab handles on the A Pillar... used Genuine Part door handles, and upgraded the screws to set screws... used M4 tap to cut thread into the existing mounts:



The keen eyed may notice my temporary bodge... I used matchsticks wedged between the handle and the trim, which has worked to stop the handle rolling on the trim, now solid... just need to find a better solution - any ideas?

Been there, it's a right PITA that fuel tank bolt

That’s enough for today, finally got the knackered tank out after using many new words to encourage it…. Filler neck is cracked and the hoses all perished to boot, so now ordered.


De-Rusted, jetwashed the muck out of the crevices (word of the day) left to dry…..

Jenolite and paint during the week then back in the new tank will go!

I reckon H/D sills are the way to go, the mounts will slide in to the crappy outrigger and I can fill/under seal so it looks half presentable….

Changed all the hub flanges. After 234 k miles there was a fair bit of wear. Got rid of lots of the clunks when taking up drive when changing gear.

A cheeky hour or so slapping chassis paint on over the rust proofing, progress (not perfection!)

I collected my latest eBay purchase, a good condition galvanised front bumper, for the 90. It came from a very genuine nice chap who lives in the north Cotswolds. We chatted landies and classic cars for a bit and I had some serious garage envy at his three bay detached garage with four post lift and workshop!

Just got to find time to fit the bumper now…

It’s nearly done, rain stopped play…


Judicious use of angle grinder on one tab on the sill and it slipped straight in - fitting all the bolts was still a faff mind!

It is done hurrah! Under seal to cover the scabbiness and on to the next job.

Never changed a fuel tank in a 90 before, won’t rush to do another

Painted all the front suspension components in chassis paint (including the blooming springs) and fitted new shocks. No more horrific knocking from the front now. And got into 3rd around the field. Bonus.

Fitted a brit part rear exhaust pipe on the 110. I've approximately 3mm clearance over the mud flap bracket.

Finally got round to adjusting the tappets on my 200Tdi 90, only 3 years after I was going to do it. Other things got in the way so it kept being pushed to the back of the queue. Quite suprised how little adjustment was needed, took much longer than expected cos I couldn't find the taper bungs to go under the cover fixing bolts. Had to near turn everything upside down before I found them. I think I have too many storage boxes of spares/useful parts.

Started strapping on these fellas, quite pleased with the result - not too extreme and more robust than Checkerplate riveted to the flimsy aluminium sills…

Primed the renovated door frames and a load of other bits. Amazingly, the door still fits the vehicle!

Took 100% advantage of the weather and have now almost finished the painting. Only the doors to go.
As a result, Mandy’s back end has had some much needed attention. Getting there!
