Which Jump Starter to have

Great video, and a great channel;

As mentioned earlier - I watched the review and bought the Audew. It was brilliant. Spun the engine faster than the vehicle battery and would start a car with completely flat battery. I used it a couple of times in the first week I had it but next time I came to use it - nothing. No way of getting it fixed so I got a refund.
The Noco wasn't as good but it has stayed not as good. No better, no worse. I charged it up again yesterday and it had lost about half of its charge over winter. If I charge it up every 6 weeks or so I think there's a fair chance it will help out if I have a problem.

Plenty of opinion on the thread from those who have decided they don't fancy these units, but who haven't lived with them. Anyone else willing to share real experience - good or bad?

I have the Audew, but not had a chance to use it yet, I may have to soon as the 90 has not strated in almost 2 months, SO may give the booster a chance. It has been sat in the back of the other car for the last year so will be a good test.

I paid less than £60 for my Tacklife starter and I think it's one of the best things I've bought. I've used it plenty of times and it hasn't let me down yet. There seems to be plenty of folk on here who carry all sorts of stuff like heavy duty jump leads, tool boxes, towing equipment etc, etc. If you are being paid to do recovery, fine but if not why carry all that stuff. Admittedly I carry a handful of tools in the series but I've only ever need them once. For everything else I carry a AA card and mobile phone. But if I did want to carry my boost starter, it would fit in the glove box.

Just had to use my Autowit supercap starter for the first time on the TD5. I had left the lights on and the starter would only just turn the engine over. Took a couple of minutes to charge up then engine spun quickly and started straight away.

The super capacitor jump starters won't be much good for engines that don't normally start straight away but I'm very pleased with it for what it does. A decent pair of 6m jump leads would still be a better use of money if it's either / or, but I reckon the super capacitor is worth it if budget allows.

I’ll have to say my NOCO GB70 is a life saver the 2 years I’ve had it . Not for my cars which I specifically bought it for, but for other people/strangers I encounter who require a quick jumpstart on their diesel and petrol engines. I usually keep it clamped to my Disco 2 battery when I am doing electrical troubleshooting so I won’t deplete the battery.
It always held a charge even after sitting in my Disco 2 for a couple of months. Hasn’t failed me yet after many uses.

I just had the need to use a starter pack on a 5 litre car that had been stored for about 6 months. Enough battery to light the interior light but a fairly feeble click and no more when trying to start the engine.
I tried the Autowit super capacitor pack without much hope of success. Using the cigarette lighter it took at least 5 minutes to charge. It spun the engine over easily. Three goes of about 5 seconds each before it fired up. The display showed about 75% left.
I paid about £120 including VAT for it which seemed ok value if slightly pricey. Now available at about £50 on Ebay which seems a bargain.

I got my 'project TD5 D2 in June 20 & worked on it (on & off) for nearly a year to get it to MOT standard. As it had been standing for a year before I got it the battery was not in the best of health (I had to jump it from my FL1 when I picked it up & luckily it was a good starter). I charged the battery up but it wasn't brilliant & nearly every time I needed to move it I had to jump it from my FL which was a pain so after a read up I got a Noco GB70 in a flash sale on Amazon £70 I think & haven't looked back, I used it a fair bit until I got the D2 through the MOT (April 21) then fitted a new battery to it. Not needed it much since then (starting the odd stranded car for friends without issue) & having just checked it's charge status with the built in indicator lights it's showing full charge despite not being charged for months.
It probably won't start a vehicle if the battery has to much resistance in it (knackered in other words) or has other starting issues which requires prolonged cranking but personally I can't fault it for 'normal' use.

Bought a SUAOKI U8 1000A after seeing recommendations somewhere....might have been here....anyway absolutely useless Chinese ****e. It never manage to start a single thing. Wouldn't hold a charge for any length of time. Then one day while charging..again..all the lights etc dead. nothing....opened it up and everything on the circuit board is battery voltage...all the chips, usb ports....everything is 12v ish. I guess the circuit is toast somewhere.

Should have bought green-flag or a decent battery and set of jump leads
