300tdi/19j wiring

I’m at my wits end!

I’m rebuilding my defender, originally had a 19j engine in but a previous owner had put a 300tdi into it using the original 19j bulkhead loom and modified 19j engine loom

The main loom was a mess with dodgy connections so I have replaced it with a 300tdi loom.

Now my problem is the connections are different and the main loom seems to have 13 wires on the plug and the engine has 8, also the colours don’t match up. So my plan of just putting new connections on has gone out the window

I’m colour blind (to certain shades) so trying to follow a wiring diagram is proving near impossible.

does anyone have a picture of what each cable goes to that I can go off?

You are going to need a wiring diagram and someone with good eyes, or hire an auto electrician for a few hours.

i was hoping that there was a actual picture of the wiring out there that is labelled like the one on LR workshop website and I could then piece it together. I can do most things but I can’t read wiring diagrams at all

Would it be easier to get a 300 engine bay loom?

Yeah it would but I was hoping to save £130 for the sake of changing the connections. It’s probably the route I’m go into have to go down

Ok I can understand that. How much "butchery" took place on the engine loom. If you can trace the wires that go to that connector and label them.
Then if @mystery maybe able to help with the wiring dia then if you labeled the cables in your connector with numbers we could tell you the colors then maybe you could read any dia mystery sends as most of his have connector pics.

Thank you, the diagram mystery posted is perfect. The wiring on the engine isn’t too bad, just has the old moulded 19j connections and different colour wiring to the 300 main loom connection. Is was the original 19j main loom that was butchered so I replaced with the correct 300tdi loom.
