Maybes, but I struggle to see what advantage he'd have by sticking a bar through the gap between the pivot and the screw in that configuration vs using a stilson around the end...

I have no idea about the hippo design, but if it was tight/rusted a few taps (gradually heavier) with a couple of #1 tool would have got it loose Shirley:).

Maybe he doesn’t have a Stilson;). I only have pipe wrenches:confused:.

Didn't have enough room to get a stilson in, well not the one I have.

Tried spanners, parrot beaks etc but I think it was because it was well into the wheel arch that I couldn't get the required leverage.

From underneath the car, maybe it would be possible to get better leverage.
