Week 2 - Tuesday.
  • all hevac display has returned.
  • Battery is sitting nicely at 14.58v.
  • Passenger window doesn’t open just makes a noise like a Bren gun., the dogs not too happy about it.
  • Viscous fan is locked right up. I can just about turn it by hand but it’s very stiff. Constant roar. People are staring
Window quadrant likely needs replacing. Done both of mine after the quadrant teeth wore away.

I hit 430,000kms in my P38 today :D

Hope that 14.58 volts is with the engine running.
You need my aircon fans mod, dump the viscous.

That may well be on the cards in future :D Strangest thing is today it’s fine?!? It was pretty wet this morning but how it can be locked for a day then ok the the next is beyond me

Edit - 14.58 was cold engine not running. In past problems caused readings of about 12/13

You should not see 14.58 with the engine off, certainly not after about 30 minutes.
The Viscous fan is another bit of crap design, the bi-metallic strip on the front attached to a shaft controls releasing the fluid from storage, it is prone to seizing, a good squirt of penetrating oil may help.

Finished wiring the doorbell push in parallel across the boot release feed to earth, with the switch on the driver side rear side panel by the luggage cover.

Means that even if the standard button doesn't work, open rear door, reach back, one press and hatch open. Lift hatch, lean forward, another press opens the lower section.

In due course I plan to keep that, but wired with a relay doing the earthing when the courtesy lights are on. and across the switch properly, so the main button works with that as a backup.

Week 2 - Thursday
  • 2/3 top Dash vents completely popped out.
  • Drivers door seems to have dropped, pulled the door card off opening it, card cracked but duct taped together stop it rattling.
  • Viscous fan is on its way out. Can’t make up its mind wether it’s seized or not and is now wobbling side to side. Pump is fine
  • Rear wheel bolts on one wheel were loose? Never had this on a vehicle ever before. Maybe someone’s had a go at them? Then noticed ones a locker  Other 3 wheels ok.
