P38A Exhaust pipe/shell open… normal??

G’day,

I was under ye old P38 checking on an oil leak (yay!) and I noticed this split open exhaust pipe toward the front of the car (in front of the cat I believe). The other pipe had the same thing. Is this normal? I assume it would have to be otherwise I’d surely hear it.

With a rusted bolt,it should be clamped to the right hand heat shield, wonder you don't hear it rattling on the starter motor.Welcome .
