Freelander 1 Getting less common

I won't pay the excessive rip off road tax that's wanted on a later post 2003 freelander....my insurance is half the price for the year...when road tax exceeds the insurance price....I'm out... if I had to pay £500 plus quid for road tax I'd buy a bigger landy....Disco...Range Rover..

I had no idea they had started importing Japanese Freelanders, you know the price is going to rocket when that starts!

Prices for used vehicles in France is high. I just bought a 2005 TD4 HSE manual transmission FL 1 for just over 4,000€ (£3350 at today's exchange rate). I have all service records and receipts until 2 years ago including the original sales receipt. But I think the price of them is going to rocket too. They are future classics such that the average home mechanic can work on them, the literature and information for spares is there and they are very capable vehicles.

Fortunately MOT's (controle technique) lasts for 2 years and road tax? What's that? There is no such thing in France.

My wife has 2005 3-door TD4 automatic (150000 miles). Only two on Autotrader and both > £3000 but much lower mileage than hers.

This time of year always sees the price of the Freelander up.

I saw a nice condition local FL2 i6 HSE for sale yesterday, which was up for £2650, or about ½ the normal price. I was tempted, but as it has a constant misfire, and is LPG converted, I decided it's not worth my time to repair.
Shame as it's in that lovely Tambora Flame. The £500 road tax put the wife off too, or I'd have been asked to fix it.

I've been looking to import my next F1 from Japan. It appears they only had the V6 petrol. But they are very clean and low mileage and have service records and a stricter mot type test.
About 1k to import and transport.

Hello all.
As it goes, in the last 12 months I have been asked by total strangers if I wanted to sell my FL1. Tip got out of a FL2. What miles has it done mate etc.
Had it for ten years, and hoping for another ten. which should see me out :)
Great Motor. Wished I had not believed the B/Sh*t about these and done my research on them, and would have had one sooner. Are well. With or with out 010.JPG

I suspect there is quite a business opportunity there with Jap' imports. People who bought them in the noughties and have more disposable income... ;)

Just had a look at the Kiwi website for car sales. Other than TradeMe there's only really FB Marketplace and the side of the road.

Recent listings is a '98 1.8 Freelander with 120k miles on the clock. Start price $1,000 but reserve presumably a lot higher than that as the 'buy now' is $4,500. There's 2 $ to the UK £ - so buy now is £2,250. Listing is...

TradeMe obviously like to assist people in their buying search. At the bottom of the listing is a section 'Other listings you might like' and they list the following...

Well, I suppose I might like them, but I'm looking at a $4k motor!
