5 door disco rear windows

Hi

Searching for this repeat issue shows a fix, but the location of the connector in the loom is confusing me. I have replaced the module a couple of times, but within days the rear windows fail again, however if I isolate the battery for a couple of hours they work, again for a short while, so I now have a couple of additional modules AMR1282 and don't want any more!
The fix I alluded to basically is to cut a wire in the connector C228 that fits onto the module AMR1282 (the bigger plug) pin H (RRC) pin 1 (D1) same colour white/pink, and connect to the connector C2073 white/green wire (splice), however I'm not sure where this connector is, I understand it should be in the same area as the module, but there is a whole heap of electrical gubbins under there!
Anyone else completed this repair as a permanent fix?
I have bought a 3 door as an alternative so doesn't have the same issues!

Hi, I had the same problem a few years back and I did like you, I changed the ecu and found it was still the same (intermittent rear windows). I then found a post on here that included a link to another site which had an excellent how to with diagrams explaining where to find the dry joints in the ecu that require soldering, I checked and sure enough my original ecu and the replacement I had were exactly the same and needed soldering. I buggered up one of them but repaired the other and I haven't had any trouble ever since, I definitely didn't cut any wires at any connectors. unfortunately I can't find the original post or the link that I used but I know the information is out there. I'll keep looking but maybe someone else will know where to find it as it's a common problem that's been going on for years.

I found a test on the RRC electric troubleshooting manual that proves it is the ECU, it involves putting a jump lead from the window motor wire to the rear window power lead and yay, windows up and down, for some reason the D1 ETM does not include this test but hey ho, the bits are the same.
I have thought about just leaving a (fused) jump lead in place over the 2 pins as the test above (test C on page 327 though the connector is described as from the front of the plug, not when it is fitted to the ECU).
the fix I was considering is described on the USA site 'rover parts.com' and is listed under AMR1282RK window lift repair kit. Looking at the D1 ETM, there is a picture of the connector C2073, it looks like it is part of the ventilation system pictured on page 479, with a picture on page 414 though it is not very clear.
I have seen a video from 2012 of a guy soldering the module, and as I have 3 including the original still mounted (past owners take a bow) so have a chance of not stuffing them all up!

I've been looking but I still can't find the one I used which is a shame as it was really useful and showed exactly where to look on the board for the broken or lifted tracks, hopefully you'll find it in one of your units. Good luck.

Finally got the backbone to get the original ecu out, and found exactly the same issue with solder as is shown in the videos, brave pills taken, solder iron wielded, plugs refitted (cut off annoying restraint clip on the smaller connector, the blasted things are a pain to remove anyway), battery reconnected, key in an button pressed and bingo, rear windows work ! I now have 2 spare emu's one ok and another one to fix.
