Morning all, my auto box is being a little sluggish. I mean holding onto gears and little but to ling or not dropping quick as it knee wad. I was advised to change the oil in the autogear box. Having watched a few videos I'm not 100% how to check the level once the change is complete.
Do I really need to get under the running car and undo that centre plug and see if anything pours outo_O

Not done a FL2 box fluid change, but it's pretty standard to have the engine running while checking the box fluid level.

the engine should not be running, it should however be at 60c, either used a OBDII reader which will give a readout of the temperature or a thermogun heat reader thingy ( can't think of proper name) on gear box, alternatively take it for a good run. Yes you do need to get under the car to take out the center bolt. The small "bolt" in the center of the drain plug feeds up to a tube which gives the right level when refilling the gear box.

Ideal, thanks for guidance, I did think it had to be warm. I hope it does the job.
According to the LR workshop manual, the engine is running while the fluid level is checked.

It is true the engine needs to be running on tick over while the auto gearbox fluid level is checked. The FL2 method is the same as the FL1, but at slightly higher temps.

If you set/check the level with the engine off, you will set the oil level too low. You then risk destroying the auto.
