Help please.
As part of my long running air in fuel issue, I notice with the pump running, nothing comes out of the water drain when I open it. and if I then remove the air bleed back hose and the brass fitting with the check valve in, still nothing..... Is that right?

I have just removed the drain plug from the filter on mine and can confirm that there was a good steady flow from the filter with the pump running. I didn't remove the air bleed though.
You don't say how long the engine runs clean before giving problems.

Pretty much the normal with them once they have been on the truck a while, a bit of something always blocks them. Not much point in them in my opinion.
If having problems with water in fuel fit a proper sediment filter. Single Fuel Filter Sediment Bowl Assembly Water Separator 1/2" UNF 5836B120 | eBay A clear section of line where fuel line reaches engine bay will find if any air is getting in at the tank/pump end [ electric pump?] of the system.

I just noticed the rubber duck bill non return was on the HP return not the LP feed. now getting a dribble through and some venting at the air bleed. purged the system for 30mins till the pump was quiet. did a quick 5 mile run, felt a bit lumpy and when I returned the pump is screaming again. I have a new duck bill and filter on its way....

A clear section of pipe where the fuel line arrives in engine bay will tell if air is getting in at tank/pump end of system.
Had a lot of trouble with my car recently with air getting in the system now and then, turned out to be the input connection at the fuel fuel filter. What was happening I recon was when running not enough air getting in to cause any more than the odd hiccup but when stopped sometimes it would be sucked in while stopped as fuel drained back to the tank. Ford Focus that has air locked is a bar steward to bleed. New joint fixed it.:)

I have a sedimenter on mine and it’s astonishing the crud that accumulates in it over a couple of years

If not already done so change the fuel filter, often the source of the problem.
That was indeed the issue! the old Male KC80 filter wouldn't drain or vent, guess it was blocked, new filter does both profusely. Possibly the noise from the pump was the second stage (HP) cavitating as it was starved of LP feed and gassing up. Anyway it seems to be running fine now. I fitted a new duckbill too as the old one couldn't shut its beak properly.
Thanks for your input everyone :)
