LT 230 attachment

Hi guys
Can anyone help identify this bolted on cover on my LT230 transfer case, from a 2001 Discovery Td5?
Underneath is a hole with a notch on one side. Assume its meant for attaching an thing of sorts!

Yes that looks like it. So would only be hooked up to an auto box- mine being manual
