well more info comes to light, the sun roof leaks, looking more like water in electrics
Nothing wrong with a leaking sunroof as long as the drain tubes are connected and clear. There was a post a few weeks back on that fix. I run my L322 with a £1k a year fix budget and would love a P38 if I had the space especially at £750.
I’d look more closely at the underside for rot rather than the electrical and mechanical gremlins because i don’t have facility to do any welding. Loads of help here if you go for it after all.
Tricky :)

well whilst waiting for my offer to be accepted and thinking id been turned down i bid on a l322 at the local auction,
so i now have another l322 coming and a p38 now, definitely marbles lost time
Are you selling the manual L322? I only ask as a friend is wanting a tidy L322 but I’ve advised against the overpriced tat he’s been offered thus far and he is put off by automatic

I’ve it’s got becm problems then contact Rick the pick on here that’s probably where the main dealer would send it to anyway

so l322 picked up and driven the 50 mile to Northampton, ran like a dream, no rear camera and tv insists im moving even when in park, hand brake on and engine off, over pit for a look under it and i find centre prop bearing shot, strange no vibration but more baffling is transfer box unplugged but no fault

so the p38 finally made it to the work shop, sat on its bump stops and wont even turn on pump, and the bigger worry is no oil pressure if i run engine

Take the plugs out and wind it on the starter with plenty of oil in the sump and see if the pressure comes up.

How old is the oil ? Could be so sludgy the pump cannot pull it up the tube. Drain it & take sump off and have a look.
all good points which i will do before pulling the motor once i can find an empty corner of the workshop, the car is too good to break

ok its the petrol, has oil and been standing for 3 years nose down on a drive, has been suggested pump is dry and cant pull up oil from sump

Could be some o-rings have cracked and are letting by air so it cannot suck. As far as I recall the pickup is nearer the front so probably OK there depending on the slope.
