I rekon it could be the immobilizer, it also has a little red light flashing on the right hand side of the steering wheel. Any ideas how to sort it?

What stage were at at the moment.

If you've got the original paperwork for it, it might have an EKA code. If not, it can be read with the right diagnostic tool if you can find someone with it.
I've seen a suggestion that you can use a "default" code too. Basically you put the key in the door lock, turn it to unlock once, to lock 5 times, unlock once, lock 5 times. Then unlock and open the door and the immobiliser should be off. Worth a go!

Thanks will I've that a go

Does it have a remote fob and central locking?
I don't know, none of the keys for the car work, I'm not sure if it did at one stage or not. It's been suggested that I run a wire straight from the ignition to the starter motor. Or one from the immobilizer to the starter. Does anyone know if the immobilizer stops the starter motor and the fuel pump as well?

I ask because I had a similar problem with my project Disco. After I'd stripped everything out of the back before cutting it up I couldn't get it started again. It turned out that one of the little black boxes in the wiring harness was the receiver for the key fob. I just needed to connect it up again for the ignition to work.

Surely none of this applies to a 200tdi disco?

It was in reference to a 200TDI disco specifically that I saw it, but it sounds like it didn't work if Logs is still immobilised.
Yep still haven't sorted it. Going to just run a wire from the starter and fuel pump now. Is there anyway I can remove the immobilizer for a more permanent fix?

It may be nothing to do with immobiliser, do indicators (or have they previously) flashed when locking? If not then it probably isn't immobiliser. First put ign on and check for power at fuel cut off solenoid with multimeter. If you have power there then 12v to the spade on the starter will tell you if the problem is starter relay or the starter itself

Just read back a bit, sounds like you either have a very flat battery, ot bad connection either battery terminals or battery/chassis earth

Definitely the immobilizer I think, everytime you open the door you can here the alarm relay clicking for a while then it goes off and there's a constant red light flashing all the time Which is didn't have before

Very flat battery can cause the immobiliser to play silly buggers, so I'd check what it's holding.
Kev makes an excellent point about starting with the simplest things to check.
