Hi everyone, first post, I have a freelander 1 from 1999, hope you can help! I have a leak from the upper tailgate trim into the headlining (which now resembles a hot air balloon) i removed the trim around the rear window and there was a severely corroded metal bar - anyone know what it's called?! Anyway i think the leak is from one of the water seal grommets. Should I replace the grommets and buy a new bar to go under the trim? Thanks for reading, I'm trying to fix it myself and am still a lady novice!

Hi, welcome to the forum. Leaks onto the head lining normally come from the sunroof. Here's a link to the tailgate seal not sure if that's what your looking at but if this leaks it normally fills the cubby hole up in the boot floor, often referred to as the fish tank on here, If you can post some pictures of those grommets & metal bar you think might need replacing I will have a look at getting the part no's for them. The screw grommets you require are part number DYH100980 just search the part number on ebay they are very cheap
I had the exact same issue as you replacing the grommets solved the leak.

I wasn't sure if it was a 3 or 5 door but from the part no. you've given it must be a 3 door. The part no has now superceded to DYH100900. Perhaps it's sorted now as there hasn't been a reply:).

I ordered the grommets by the part number I quoted a couple of weeks ago for my 5 door and they were correct
