Fuel burning heater

Hell all I installed a webasto that is used as sparking heater in our North American trucking industry today. I used the coolant line set up as per rave for td4 auto
It seems that it doesn’t really act as a block heater as it is currently plumbed
Does it only focus on the heater matrix
Or will it heat engine block
I only used today for about an hour
I am wondering if it were plumbed differently would it act as a block heater without engine running
I am aware that once the engine is running it will subsidize heating the coolant as the water pump circulates coolant
I was hoping for a better performing parking heater
It is brand new and has a timer

If it is set up same as D2/3/4 it should do the whole engine.

30 mins run time is enough to get my D3 close to 1/2 way on the gauge in the summer and 1/4 way on the gauge in the winter, not your winters obviously, but an hours run time should have the thing roasting.

Might as well leave the engine running over night.

In the UK we can send the FBH a text and it will start therefore heating up the block before you get into the car, also if you have a timer you should be able to set that so the heater works while you are not in the, so lets say you leave home at 07.00 in the morning put the heater on time for 06.45 or send it a text at the same time, remember though you must have a good battery on the car when using the FBH like this.

if there is someone with a freelander 1 with fbh that could send photos of the coolant lines
how they hook up to matrix with
i am pretty sure i have it correct but pics may be better than rave diagram

The FBH should have its own water pump.
Some makes of car also have a valve in the heater matrix piepwork.

The FBH T's into the heater lines under the EGR transfer pipe. The heater connetion pipes are in the same place, regardless of an FBH being fitted or not.

Hi, I'll post a picture of my TD4 auto tomorrow, its factory fitted 2004 model.

looking at rave and the land rover part numbers there is a different hose set up between the fbh and non fbh
fbh,part#jhb000160 ,has a one way valve a y pipe and a t for the line that enters fbh(top pipe from matrix).maybe i should have spliced in the exit hose instead of installing the hose assembly with one way valve
it is brand new webasto kit with pump and timer installed
the factory setup seems to favour the heater matrix instead of entire cooling system while parked
while parked it heats the two or so liters of coolant between matrix and fbh then cycles off and repeats once coolant in that circuit has cooled down

I had the grand idea of retrofitting the webasto FBH to my TD4 a few years ago. I started buying the bits. But it's slipped to a lower priority job, as I've had other things to do. Maybe I'll get around to fitting it next year. ...he says. Anyway. Here on some photos that might help. As others have said there are some threads on here that have more detail and photos too. Hope these help a little bit.

The official kit contents.

What I managed to scavenge. The pipes go into the place of the non FBH hoses, but have the extra feeds for the heater. I think there is a LR installation manual somewhere. (probably tucked away on a webpage on here somewhere)

Now it's getting colder over here, I wish I had time to have fitted this in the summer. But with the other issues I was having, grateful to just have the vehicle on the road again!

yes they work well,the td4 putting around town does not create a lot of coolant heat.td5 is a lot better
i will be putting one in my disco 2 td5 as well
my wife loves the heat in the freelander now

from the looks of your pics,the hose routing i have done is correct
i mounted my evo in the same place as factory
last night my wife worked to 11pm so i set timer for 10;15pm
she said it was very warm immediatly after starting car as compared to without fbh
