Just trying to fill up at Tesco’s earlier and pulled the trigger and it dropped a litre or two on the floor underneath tank , oh dear disapproving looks all round mid fuel shortage!
On inspection the filler hose 543764 is split just as it goes through bulkhead
It was a really awkward, kinky fit when I installed it a few years ago which prob encouraged it’s early demise

Without buying a LR part has anyone recently fitted one easily and was happy with quality and what brand did you use

Thanks

Steve

Mine did the same after a couple of years. I ordered another, trying my hardest to get a good one but it’s exactly the same as the split one.

I fill it now by pulling the seat forward and have a spray paint cap over the tank

I’m looking out for a suitable stainless flexi hose but with the two different sized ends it would have to be made up.

That sounds the best option , I have a tank under passenger seat as backup, I seen a recommendation from scoottofthe fen who said bearmarc good , so I ordered that, however later checked my email and last one from 2018 was bearmarch too

I think both mine had the spiral of tape wound into them that you can see on the surface. Like I say, I never even bothered fitting the second one.

Silicone ain’t fuel safe so that’s out. PVC is and they do heavy pond flexi pipe but even that might be too lightweight.

Cheers Blackburn fitted another Bearmarch hose tank end fitted nice , fitting to ally tube was really hard and hose a tad too small ended up cutting a couple of inches off which helped , wonder if genu8ne would have been better ?

Hope it fits well, if it does I’ll get one mine went from ok one fill to hissing out a month later and hard to see the wear without pulling seats / cover out

I put one on the petrol Series a few years ago. It came from Paddock, probably a Britpart one. Not had any issues with it.
It was only a few quid, so if it does split, I will just get another one.

Did you try dipping it in boiling water, using lubricant, and forcing something conical into the pipe first to stretch it a bit?

No boiling water , used some grease and put ally bit in vice which helped, I cut a couple of inches off which helped get it into place.
So that’s sorted , now waiting for new transmission brake shoes to turn up , old ones very pitted with me forgetting to take handbrake off until it smoked , in the meantime tried to remove ball joint from steering boxx drop arm. Abandoned that for another day … will remove wing, battery box, air filter and change both ball joints

Rob are the LH and RH longitudinal tube ball joints same as track rod end balljoints

If you don't want to remove the wing, there is a puller that removes the arm from the steering box. Not expensive either.

Get a joint with a nipple on it, and cut a hole about an inch across in the inner wing. That way, you can grease the nipple through the hole, and you won't ever need to change the ball joint again.

I don't know who Rob is, but the steering drag link ball joints and the the track rod balljoints are the same, except you need a RH thread joint for one end and a LH thread joint for the other. Similar, if you get the ones with grease nipples, you will never need to change them again.

Thinks you got the last one :(
It looks OK. Has a muslin kind of finish. It’s going to be something of a faff to fit as the bulkhead is carpeted and the rear side wall awaiting carpet with a heavy EVA foam glued on it. I didn’t do the fuel feed cover but the rivets are covered.

As I’m all faffed out with this engine rebuild it’ll wait till I have some more bothered to hand.

The original filler pipes that I sometimes remove from Series have a kind of cloth reinforcement on the outside.

The ones I have replaced them with recently don't, but guessing that one has similar.

Check your steering tube as some track rod ends are full threaded early ones have a shoulder on track rod end for the tube clamp.
Different part numbers.

Not sure why they have 2 different tubes I assume the long threaded ends are all, same thread and only the nuts change thread, have yet worked out which axle suffix I have , need to dig out some pics when did axle refurb seen some numbers on top near breather I think
I will remove whole thing before ordering just to measure up properly

The later tubes are threaded right to the ends the earlier ones have no thread for 1st 3/4" from memory hence clamp on shouldered part of early track rod
