Changing tax classification with DVLA

has anyone tried to change the classification of their vehicle....i.e. from Van to car ( with photograpic evidence )?

I doubt you will have much luck, I presume you have a van type defender that has had seats and windows fitted and now want to avoid congestion charge or similar?

Iirc early cars had to have the station wagon designation in the vin number to get the exemption?
