I am wanting to make a box in the back of the car that I can drop a leisure battery into to run some bits in the car and/ or some bits in the tents when camping.
Has anyone ever made something similar which would allow them to drop a battery in and then hook it up and run everything that way. I don't want to charge the batteries from the car as will charge them in the house. Just wondered if it was do-able.

I have a split charging system (T max) charges 3 leisure battery, then connected to a 12v-240v invertor
If you didnt want to charge from the motor then just connect a battery to an invertor and run it until its
flat or a solar panel to keep it topped up. Depends what your intending to power up.
Led lights will use very little power.

Some info here.......

Best to get on a tech forum. You're essentially wanting a DIY 12v battery bank. Not difficult to achieve at all if its independent of the vehicle.
