I've seen a small pool of water inside my filter housing tho, so i hope and think thats my only leak.
I've heard the foam is mainly to prevent leaves etc to block the drains in the panel? But also that the foam absorbs water, and minimizes water coming in?
Unsure, but i got the impression that its important. Better to have, than not ay? I'm just waiting for winter! Wonder how my car behaves in the winter.. If its a bitch to start or nay

I've used the fish tank filter foam Dirt cheap off the bay and very good

Perforated metal lasts for ever and allows better airflow.
