Got something odd which I have been ignoring as I have mixed feelings about parking sensors but I should really ask.

Where I park has a 7 foot high brick perimeter wall. The rear sensors work as I would expect where reversing into the space has them alerting and getting more frantic as I close up to the wall but they are then silent when I pull away forwards. The front sensors only seem to be active when I am in reverse in that I can pull up within a couple of inches without a peep but as soon as I select reverse to back out of the space my ears are blown out by their frantic scream.

Is this a genuine fault or just something wrong in some ECU config?

I've never had a car with parking sensors, don't really want them as I can drive.

However, front sensors? I wouldn't want them because I'm not blind!

Can you just disconnect the front sensors?

I did have front sensors temporarily when I parked up for my Covid jab. They had a bunch of 'helpers' directing cars park. This fella showed me where to park, then proceeded to wave me forward up to the car in front. He was still waving me forward when I stopped and he still continued to do so. I just looked at him and raised my eyebrows.

I'm assuming it's a Freelander 2.
From memory, the front PDC functions automatically when reverse is selected, or below 15 or 20 mph when they're turned on with the dash switch.

It's all in the vehicle handbook. ;)

As Nodge says there is a button on the dash if you want them on going forward, also turns them off if you don’t want them. Orange light is on when they are operating.

In the manual??? Isn't that just Land Rover's opinion though? Mutter mutter RTFM

That makes sense I guess as I am creeping forwards to avoid re-arranging the bricks although it would be good to have a permanent off-switch as the over-ride button only works until you switch off the engine but I suppose that is discussed in this weird handbook thing as well. Must get round to reading it some day
