After scouring the internet, YouTube and forums to get a clue as to why my tow bar electrics weren’t working, I had to bite the bullet today and take it to an Indy 4x4 garage.

initially, they couldn’t fit my car in until next Thursday, but when I said I had an important long journey to make towing a horse today, they sourced genuine Land Rover electrics and fitted them for me today! Amazing service.
Apparently, the electrics and module that were already fitted to my FL2 when I bought it, were Chinese copies and total rubbish. The module had died in the boot and it had never been programmed into the cars ECU.
All sorted now, thanks to JSF 4x4 in Manningtree, Colchester. Outstanding local Landy garage.

An LR towing module doesn't need programming to the vehicle.
The vehicle's CJB is told that a tow module is fitted, but for no other reason than to turn off the reverse PDC and rear fog light if a trailer is fitted.
The CJB is smart enough to work out a trailer is fitted for the dash telltale trailer light, so that still works even if the vehicle hasn't had the necessary configurations done.

Yes, that’s more or less what he said. He said the car didn’t know it had a tow bar fitted, so he ‘told it it had’. His words, lol
