It is one of the springs that “spring load” the flap the goes between the lower tailgate and the rear floor.

Those cypress trees down my drive rain down needles constantly. Clean them out and a week later they're back. Cannot bring myself to cut them down though.

Thats the thing we need trees, this one got hit by high winds and was leaning over dangerously so had to come out, i thought i had got all the bits out of the car

Tried in vain to fix that boot flap thing looking at your picture Brian mine fitted exactly the same but it’s got no tension on it to keep the thing down

Mines buggered as well... I have a small individual I employ to push it down when my butler opens the boot... It is a range rover after all
