Hey folks can someone point me in the direction of a clutch or clutch maker that can provide me with a heavy duty replacment clutch for an FL1 TD4 (05 plate)?

Thanks in advance!

It appears clutches don't last that long on the TD4
my current one has done **103,000 miles .. feels as good as the day after it were replaced ..
[ done when the slave cylinder failed ]
and .. imho .. tuning the fl1-td4 .. particularly the lower rpm range .. does the clutch a big favour
[ as it comes across as a potential clutch killer in a bog standard setup ]

** then again .. i don't tow 'owt .. or taxi passengers .. don't even have the weight of rear seats ..
though .. dog does need to go on a diet ;-]

lol, spoken like someone who has never driven a manual one off road :D
Nope never!

Can't imagine doing it either ;)

My idea of offroad is pulling trailers across my land, not spending myself clean on massive tyres and lifts to only drive over some grassy lumps ;)

Your loss and says more about you than anyone else. :p

A standard FL1 is more than capable on a lot of terrain. But lack of low means the clutch can take a pounding. Heavy trailers can make it slip more than you'd want to when manoeuvring.

More of a can't fit in the Freelander properly, I've owned one..
I guess it serves some kind of purpose, maybe....

Offroad it isn't too bad..

Failed? Or slipping? Could there be another cause such as an oil leak or something?

Do you slip the clutch a lot? We have 3 Td4 manuals in the family. None have had clutches in our ownership. And I suspect they could all be original as all of the vehicles have been owned for many many years and lots of miles. One of them is on 194,000 miles.

For a LUK (OE) clutch to last just 10k miles, here's an issue with either the way the vehicle is being used, or an issue with the release mechanism, allowing it to slip more than it should. With non-towing use, the TD4 clutch should last 120-150k miles.
The DMF can't cause the clutch to wear out prematurely.

I never saw the LUK packaging and they failed to plug my HDC back in so my faith in the garage isn't amazing.
