As I'm looking for a facelift Hardback as a weekend play thing, I look on the bay quite often.

This came up, which I just have to share, as I nearly spat my coffee out when I saw the price. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/land-rov...=p2349624.m2548.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

I know it's supposed to a 1 off, but it's well over priced compared to a non special of a similar year and specification.

I say good luck to the guy, and I hope he gets his asking price. Mind you, I would, wouldn't I, given that my hippo the same age, colour, also a special vehicles TD4 auto commercial, and has pretty similar mods to this one would therefore be similar money to this one.

FWIW it's worth factoring in the price of the mods, like if I remember correctly that light pod was available only from mm4x4, and was silly expensive like ~£600 - in white gel coat, stick a hundred bucks on for the painting and another couple of bucks for the actual lamps, and boom, that's the guts of a grand on the nose of the vehicle. Then there are those sill plates were terrafirma and cost something eyewatering like ~£400, although muddy mods now do something very similar to them for <£300. And lets not forget the price of G4 bits which are cast from a proprietary alloy of high grade expensinite and unobtanium; I seem to remember you and Andy looking at £600 roof racks when he got his Tangiers Orange "G4" 5 door lets say the sump guard is the same sort of money, and the exhaust guard is half that, it starts to add up to a lot of money.

£ 300 G4 Exhaust Guard
£ 600 G4 Sump Guard
£ 600 Bonnet Light Pod (bare)
£ 100 Fitting & painting light pod
£ 200 4x Lamp units for light pod
£ 400 Sill guards
£ 200 Lift Kit
£ 150 CB Radio kit
£ 450 2" Receiver front bumper - assuming its aftermarket rather than G4
£ 450 2" Receiver rear bumper - assuming its aftermarket rather than G4
£ 150 Silicone engine hoses
£ 400 Mud Tyres
£ 250 spacers (not mentioned but the vehicle stance suggests their presence)
--------------------------------------------------
£3,850 total spent on mods

Ah, but once it's all second hand and crappie looking, the mods aren't worth nearly as much. ;)

But overlooking them when appraising the realism of the price the seller listed the motor for and comparing it to similar species base vehicles is equally foolish. Besides, the figures I quoted for the G4 kit was based on second hand parts. And a lot of those bits are no longer available, so I'd reckon rarity would put their second hand value closer to new prices than the sort of depreciated values associated with typical second hand parts like alternators or whatever. So your basically looking at two and a half, maybe three grand worth of parts plus a grand for the vehicle, seems fair.
