P38A gems p38 dying at traffic lights

Hi all got a 98 p38 Gems petrol,sometimes when i come to lights or stop sighn my engine cuts out,will restart after a couple of minutes,any idea on what causes this,doesnt throw up any code im aware of thanks all sid

no dont need a rescue (am i in wrong thread?) just some help diagnoseing,sorry new at this..

So engine cuts out when hot, needs to cool down to re-start? Usually a sign of a failing CPS.

Have you checked the fuel pressure? 38 psi static, and bumping up to over 40 when you give the engine a rev? If you don’t see these sort of numbers, might be a fuel pump on the way out, or the FPR.

Other things to check, pull the IACV off and give it a clean, also might be a worn TPS.

no not when hot and doesnt need to cool down to restart,starts as soon as its in park .not an overheat issue.cooling system is in tip top conditioin

I think I'd look at the IACV to start with then, pull it off and clean it, see if that helps.

Idle Air Control Valve.

On your Gems its on the back of the Plenum, the big box on top of your engine in the middle with 4.6 or 4.0 on it.

Have a look here and you will see its at the back of the plenum.
