Wanted, 2001 P38 4.6 Front Axle

Hi,
Due to purchasing a P38 from a right crook in Wolverhampton - long story - I now find that I need a complete front axle for a 4.6. Prefer complete as I'm not sure how much of the rest of the axle innards have been chewed up by a knackered crown wheel and pinion. I am near Milton Keynes, but am happy to pay for courier or collect if not too far away.

The front axle`s are all the same even the diff ratios, the only difference is late 4.6 may have a 4 pin diff but not always it was a bit hit or miss on the assembly line

Thanks for that Brian, I did wonder. Looking through the parts catalogue - shopping list! - I saw that the only difference in the front axle part numbers was age wise that was my worry. If I get a complete axle, it wont matter if it is a 4 pin diff or not, as that would be how it came.

The only difference is you will pay extra for a 4 pin one, i would go on condition over anything else.

Yep, that's what I thought and is exactly the route that I am going, thanks for your input.

Sorted, seller didn't know if it was 4 pin or not, so it will be something to check when it arrives But it is complete - even has the airbags and hockey sticks.

We bought my son's 38' from a guy who said "really well looked after... Buggered front diff and hockey stick bushes shot to bits... I also had a 2hr drive home with it... That is a 2000my, I've also à client who has a 2001my and the same issue. Where they built more economically after 99??

I hope not! Especially as I have another axle on it's way Hopefully it is just down to poor maintenance by owners wanting a status symbol but not wanting to look after it. Bloke in the village has a series 2A that is virtually a shed and a Disco 2 that is sat on flat wheels it has been there so long - all because of a cracked windscreen that he couldn't afford to replace and it would fail it's Mot.

Shame really but we love them enough
