This was going well with a clean getaway from the storage site and averaging 40mph with the caravan attached. Just a 320mile drive to Kendal and all the time we need to get there

Arrive just after 5 and get out pitch number and go to startup and the brake pedal hits the floor....seems as though a hose or similar on front nearside has let go. Waiting for the AA but what are the chances they will have a replacement? Hopefully very high as tomorrow we are supposed to head up to a site 12 mi!es from Perth and then next day up to Correlate

Updates as they happen but I may be looking for details of mechanics near Kendal that can do early morning miracles

Can't see AA would do that kind of thing on the roadside :(
Nope...brakes are not done as a roadside repair, add to which ever model of every car has a different pipe so really not practical to carry spares. Best you can hope for is a drag down to the nearest garage (organised by yourself) or the nearest AA approved garage. :)

AA man spoke to a local colleague who recommended taking me to Lakeland car center in Kendal. We got there about 7pm using a rigid tow (NOT something I want to repeat) and as we dropped the key through the door the owner popped his head out of the workshop so we had a chat about it. They got into it first thing in the morning and after a couple of road checks to ensure it was performing to spec I got it back in the afternoon so the following morning we headed up to Fortrose where we unhitched and sat with a local beer to watch the dolphins

Total bill was £150 which may be good or may be a little high but at that point we would have paid £500 or even more to get back on the road

We have also given a huge thumbs up to the AA guy as he did not just do the minimum and took a good 2 hours working through the options with us and calling round to find the best place to take us

I now have to plan some top end TLC and learning the checks I should be making to reduce the chances of this happening again
