This is my first L322 post but I've had a few P38 posts in the past and hope the L322 guys are as helpful as the old guard!

I've got the fault code "P0501-00 (2E)" which is thrown after the engine is under load, the first time was whilst towing a caravan but now it is more regular. When this happens, the automatic gear box appears to disengage and you must lift your foot off of the accelerator until you kind of feel the gears re-engage again before being able to drive off normally. So this is basically a temporary loss of all forward drive when this fault is thrown.

Any thoughts ladles and gents? Thank you in an advance.

Welcome to the wacky world of the L322. Just for the heck of it, which year L322 and which diagnostics are you using? After that I believe this might be the bat light for @Bemble

Have you been away for a bit?
Not sure about others but I felt that one a bit sharp :(
I've been away a while but not years. I'm not sure what you mean by sharp, sorry. I never try to come across as anything another than appreciative of any and all help that this forum has given me and many others in the past and hopefully future.

I was asking , just in case you weren't aware that we have lost Wammers.

Oh god! I had no idea, honestly. That man saved my P38 more times than any other member. I just figured I hadn't seen his name as I was trawling L322 forums and not the P38 ones.

No worries. It is still recent enough for it to be felt at times. He was the saviour of many vehicles on here and will be sorely missed for all his input, not just P38 , for a very long time.

Guessing you've been judged by Vinegar Tits don't let it worry you do what many have done and block her ;):D

Drive shaft sounds very much like a shot in the right direction! The only thing that's throwing me off is that I've recorded live values from all wheel speed sensors and nothing was amiss with the data. That's with the GAP IID tool. There seems to be a judder now when the car is trying to 'find' it's gears, which is odd. I'll post updates for anyone when I find the issue. Thank you so far for the pointers and advice.

A quick update. Changing out the battery (after having a battery check conducted) seems to have lessened a lot of the fault codes but the main problem persists. I'm now just waiting to hear back from a mechanic for an appointment to look at my drive shafts still. When it happens, I have no low or high box. No drive. No reverse. It is though the transfer box just stops engaging. The gearbox stays in drive though, making me feel like drive shaft or transfer box and not gearbox.

Another update. The issue appears to get much much worse the warmer the car and running gear gets. I took it for a little 10 minute run the other day after a transfer box flush and had to get towed home. Although now the P0501-00 code doesn't get thrown when this happens. Well not every time, anyway.
