So changed fuel filter didn't fill the new fuel filter with diesel all the way to top them primed it heard the pump started the car all good then 2 mins later it dies so i know there is an air lock somewhere in system but i dont where the bleed nipple/valve is or if there even is one

tried to prime/purge it again and crank to bleed the air outta but to no luck

and m/s have started flashing meaning a fault of some kind and now the fuel pump isnt working as probaly due to low battery

anyone know how to get this air lock outta the system and what the fault codes could mean

cheers for the help

Although I trained as a diesel mechanic years ago, I try to avoid Diesel engines if I can. I thought engines of this vintage were all self bleeding.

You have an air lock in the head fuel gallery. Same thing happened to my lads Defender TD5. Stuck in a fuel pressure gauge, in the fuel temp port, and bled the air(foam) out. Started up perfectly afterwards. No amount of purging cycles would shift the air.

Another choice, is your fuel pump is knackered on the HP side, and is only running on the LP side. You can disconnect the inlet on the FPR and check the flow rate .
flow rate for both the HP and LP side of the pump is written in the Rave manual, ( i do not have access to it on this computer) .
I have had this happen.

Cheers

would a fuel pressure gauge be needed or could i use something else as i dont own one
and also do i just bleed it until disel comes out

You could just loosen the FPR temp sensor, and that might allow the air to come out. Mine was just yellow foam, and lots of it, until liquid fuel came out. A test gauge is only about 19 off ebay. All it will allow you to do is press a button, and the air will vent off.

ok cheers anychance u know the location of the temp sensor and which exact pipe it is picture would be lovely if possibly as ive search online can cannot seem to find it

Then this methods not for you mate... Dont take it the wrong way.

mate im mechainc in training and i have work in 30 mins and i need a car to get there im ****ed up the car the for last 3 days and im on my last nerve with this thing as i need as runnign car

Just one thought, when you took the filter off did you remove the old sealing washer in the centre?
They are known to stick to the housing and in the past people have popped the new one on without checking so then you have 2 washers and it stops the filter sealing correctly.

Its screwed into the fuel pressure regulator unit, on the side of the engine block, to the rear.

Hey Mate I've done what u said I got the fuel temp port out and diesel has now come out of it but still wont start. dose it have something to do with m and s flashing that it wont start now
