New, and Midlands lanes

Hi all, im new to offroading and laning, but always fancied a go.
Ive recently moved into meriden, and ive downloaded a load of os maps, and scanned them, and here, to see if theres any somewhat local, midland green lanes. All the ones mentioned on here dont seem to be marked BOAT, so wondering if theres a local group thatd know a few still open to go on?

Just looking at OS maps could lead you astray, they will not show local restrictions. ( Seasonal etc)
I would suggest looking on FB and aslo looking for your local GLASS representative, maybe even join GLASS.

Yeah, at one point a bloke told me to check with the council to see if a byway still is, but i cant even seem to find any marked ones, let alone current.
I have thought of glass, although at the moment, money is fairly tight.

County councils should have definitive maps, but trying to work out what ones are restricted can be fun and interesting, some CC are better than others.

If you get in touch with your local GLAS rep, then when things become less restricted they may arrange a trip out and you could join them. Some like to have only GLASS members , others are more open to welcome newbies in.

You may find a non afffiliated greenlaning group local to you on FB, it is worth a search, but how responsible they are is down to you to decide.

By Joining GLASS you also gain access to the trailwise 2 mapping which shows BOATS and UCRs.

I'd suggest doing some off roading first, get the feel for your car, then try some lanes. Or at least go with someone who knows what they're doing

Although tempting, it's best not to go off roading or green laning alone, it's always safer if another vehicles with good towing capacity and an experienced off road driver goes along.
