Morning All
I woke at 6:20 but went back to sleep for extra Zeds in the Zed-bank.
No rain here yet (expected c.4PM.)
The flat nature of the very top part of the barn roof does mean that the water can collect there a bit
I know it is usual to put a drainage slope on a roof and I normally would have done so but it was going to complicate things no end and the width of the top flat section of the roof is only 7' 6"
It is just a small amount of water and it does boil-off/blow off with wind and Sun, so I shall see how we go. Worst case is I cut the top section of the rubber roof off, fit firring strips and -reboard/re-skin in the rubber at some point.
After more coffee I shall do a bit more clear-up in the work areas ready for the plasterers to make their mess on the 10th.
Daffyd reports that the wind has veered from NNE to SSW.

They redesigned the henry motor to be more efficient and have the same suction for the rule change.

We have 2 G-Techs and I have to say I find them to be over-rated and under-performing at the best of times.
Of course this may be because the main "driver" of these devices never empties them properly, nor does she ever fully tap out the filters so they just get worse & worse over time until eventually I cannot stand it and do what ought to be done as regular maintenance at every emptying.

Mr Dyson said he was concentrating ont battery only int future as they be not limited ont power like mains powered hoovers is.

Of all the different types of weather I think I dislike the wind the most.

Afternoon all... (got a soaking)
Im back in the hoose tis wild here, done a bit o fencing to use the last of the sarking board
& the last of the tile batten under the decking to finish it off.
Now they want another planter & other bits finished the same as it looks so nice AGGhhhhh ffs
Im sure they dont want us to leave.

...I went to fit my nice new SanOu 4-jaw chuck to my mini-lathe and was disappointed to find that I could not.
The fixing bolts are too long to pass between the rear of the headstock mounting plate and the headstock casting itself.
It will need to be affixed with studs that screw into the chuck and then pass through the plate and nuts placed on the other side.
Ordered a set of SS M8 exhaust studs to do the job.
I am still unable to "part-off" on this little lathe. It lacks the rigidity of a Myford or a Boxford or a Colchester and I have managed to stall the damn thing several times as it snatches the parting blade and tucks it under.
The setup seems ok (perfectly on the centreline and using a parting blade to "face" a few thou' end of a rod leaves no "PIP". But the parting action keeps failing on me.
Will I be limited to cutting stuff oversize and then "facing off" down to the required size I wonder?

I think me Island is in the middle of this weather system now as the rain has gone, the wind has dropped away and the skies are beginning to clear.

Part 2 must be due overnight

We are supposed to be seeing 60MPH winds and lots of rain @ c.10PM.

This is a draw back on many small lathes. A lot of people use the method you describe. Still as 'This Old Tony' says, any lathe is better than no lathe!
