Hi, the back door catch on my td4 isn't working properly.
I think that one of my friends said that this is a common problem?
How do I fix it without getting a third mortgage?
( Getting the clutch fixed took all my dosh:()

'back door' .. as in tailgate ?
well if so .. and IF you need to fit a new tailgate lock mechanism
it's fairly straight forward to d.i.y replace it ..

you have to slam it .. so it shuts ? .. or ? ..
( if yer on about a rear side door .. then i'm clueless :- ) .. )

Welcome back Sal!!
As above, we need to clarify which door, then if it is tailgate window related or lock, then if it is catch, handle, ccu feed or sommat else!!

Give us a few more clues, which door, what does it do and what does it not do when!?
:)

Hi Andy,
Hope that you're well. had a chaotic year, only just saw replies to my post, it's the tailgate and it's got worse. Won't work even if slammed.

If the issue the tailgate the door handle can feel floppy but if that stuck this can stop you opening and closing the door. That part you can with a little effort push forward the flapper to release. Sometimes the spring can fail. If the door still will not shut the catch could be off key and needs resetting if it the catch mechanism inside the door then there two parts that can fail. Actuator lever that powers the catchment to open and close this acts like a pully to pull down or push up.when use the door handle.
If were talking about rear side door then they rely on the CCU and internal door catch lever similar to the tail gate door if sitting true the catch will need adjusting to accept the door mechanism. But first if you have the fob key press to see if all the door locks open, if one fails or more then they will need replacing.

Thanks guys,
I think it might be something to do with the catch, it seems to hold it shut and the window operates but the sensor still says that the door is open, so the alarm goes off if I try to lock it

Have had a look at circuits. There is a small chance that you have a broken wire between the tailgate catch and the central control unit, this would need some work to find.
I have a spare working tailgate catch if you want it, will most probably sort the issue as Nodge says.
Will PM.
