1st post on Landy Land.....hailing from Yankshire of Florida in the States. Recently acquired what in the US would be a resto mod Land Rover.....but given its a bit of a mish mash of Rovers...... and that Mary Shelly was from London, perhaps Frankenstein might be more apropos. I'm told it is a Series IIa with a 200tdi engine in it....and am sure some other bastardized parts.....so by no means a concours thoroughbred......but it runs great and tools around town smartly. For now, is way too clean for anymore safaris....likely won't venture much further than the local coffee shop....or other such treacherous tavern to tavern treks. Including some pics: perhaps can get affirmation regarding the model and engine.....and maybe if that plate is even vintage correct or from UK.

Welcome.
Looks good and a fair few modifications.
See it also has disk all round.

now what are the 2 black pipes in both the front wings ?

That’s got a defender spec 200tdi in it and looks neatly installed.
And yes that 7 digit black and white number plate is period correct and from the UK

very nice, discs all round is a nice mod, would have had drums originally. Looks very clean, I would be happy with that!!

Hi and welcome!

What a great looking Landy! No corrosion, we’ll put together and with some tasteful modifications too!

From the grille and door hinges amongst other features, it looks like a series 2a. But from the pictures, other than the body, gearbox and maybe the chassis, the rest could be from anything newer!

The registration number suggests it was registered in the Southampton or Portsmouth area of the UK.

Thnx much for the welcome and the replies....confirming the engine, body series model and plate, particularly providing the locality/Southhampton or Portsmouth. Believe seller said body was a '69 and that '69 was the first year headlights moved outboard from guarding the grill to the fenders.
Re the pipes/hoses going the wings fenders on either side....ya that's a mod I don't really like.....but am sure will bring a chuckle when "hear" what it is...........those hoses are actually semi truck dual airhorns mounted up in the fender wells......powered by an ARB air compressor. They are so loud.....and well....I think bit too........undignified.....(would at be cheeky??) for such a classic vehicle.....I am removing them and hooking up the original horn which is in there next to the radiator but wire not connected. The air compressor is also plumbed with a bayonet outlet on the back bumper...for tire inflation... and that is fine/useful.
Anticipate continuing to tweak it with original parts/pieces other than upgraded functional mods.
cheers

I bet those horns are LOUD. the original landies came with an option of horns as far as I am aware, a low note horn favoured by farmers so has not to startle farm animals and a higher note horn for normal users on the road. The low note is pretty feeble and can hardly be heard by other road users. I would like to fit a steam whistle to mine from a steam traction engine but they are very expensive and need a decent compressor to drive them.
