How do...

I’ve been away for a fair old time, but now I’m back!!

I got drunk the other night and ended up buying a knackered old D1...

I managed to get a transporter to collect it, so now I’ll set about fixing it.

Decided to take the rock sliders off and see how bad the cills were.
Not too bad was the answer, so I’ll patch the 2 bits at the back that’ll need doing. Then I’ll underseal them and refit the sliders.

then I thought I’d have a pick about on the boot floor as I’d seen some ‘interesting’ bits of random fibreglass.

Big mistake.

Decided to leave the boot floor.

Previous owner reported that the drivers side window only worked when it felt like it.
I had a look, and all the electrics in the driver’s footwell where covered in dried mud.

removed the trim and found another rust hole.

Removed the wing and found he’d tried to cover it with a bit of beer Mat and gaffa tape.

broke out the welder and the underseal to clean up some previous (not too bad) repairs.

From the first picture, it looked a sound disco but it’s amazing what the panels hide. I’ve had a few lemon buys on eBay but nothing quite the size of a complete vehicle!

Good work though. It’s not good finding a previous owner has bodged or tried to hide problems.

At least you can get some under seal on things while the wing is off.
Always satisfying finding a fault & repairing it, plus you are giving the motor a good look over

Nice grass! Do you cut that with scissors ?

good work on the disco looks to be coming on nicely
