dont forget rain water also comes in through the intake at the bottom of the screen then runs along and into the pollen filters, if the drain is blocked then overflows into the cabin

got an email response from rpi engineering re their cam kit. they recommend the piper270 because the torque is more round the mid range which is where the autobox spends much of its time. the torquemax is closer to standard and more likely to get away without a remap however

Just been to see another. 2003 4.4 poverty vouge no heated seats no heated steering wheel no sat nav but its a vouge on paperwork.

Not if the gauze filter is in place or has been replaced with a new one. I fitted a new one on my Westminster TD which blew up on me and it was a pain to fit as all the trim around the lower screen had to come off before you could removed the scuttle trim to change the filter. Once done though it was a satisfying job done and the filter guaze was only £9. The amount of P38's you see with them missing is mental too.
Incidently the dealer selling my old Westminster TD ( KW02AEB ) has dropped the price on it from £9995 to £8500 now. I only paid him £6000 for it last year and it blew up so he must have put a second hand engine in it. The car is cursed too and has loads of other faults on it which i intended to do. He is still using 6 year old pictures of it from when he bought it from auction on his ebay listing LOL and taking credit for my work i did on it. ONE TO AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Nope mate. They were designed to let a certain amount of air through maybe BUT deffo to keep water and dirt ingress OUT. Obviously if you jet washed it directly to **** on it then it would either fall apart or get soaked and leak. Over time the OEM factory filter just rotted away to dust hence why many P38's these days DONT have them in place and you can see all the gubbins behind the scuttle panel. Its always BEST practice to get a new filter fitted ASAP. I got mine off Bearmach i think which is an uprated gauze and much better than OEM crap LR fitted.
Its a time consuming job to do BUT prevention is better than cure i say.

@Dopey used the fish tank filter, i replaced mine with a britpart one and it did not last more than a couple of years, i need to do it again

Loads of options guys albeit i just bought a new filter all ready made to shape and fitted it in a bout 1 hour total. The only thing you need to do is carefully remove everything required to do the job. PITA but well worth doing if yours is missing. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THERE FOR A REASON.

Just to make you all aware. There is a P38 seller on ebay currently based in WEST MIDLANDS selling a few P38's. They are all the one's off the chap in Wokingham garage forecourt which i recently visited. Looks like he is buying them off the chap in bulk, tarting them up and selling them at an inflated price. LOL. Makes me laugh as they all look the same as they did when sat on a crammed solid forecourt in Wokingham where pretty much most of them had been sat for up to 2 years. During my P38 search quest i have pretty much now been able to identify who all the dealers are and where they are based and most of them are buying these worn out examples off the chap in Wokingham, tarting them up and selling on.
What also makes me laugh is when you read his contact details it states he is down in Devon.

Put the carb back in and replaced the throttle cable. Starter battery is charging now, let's hope the non-starter issue she has noe is only due to the dead battery.
And I ordered new tires. Something is off with MTs, I had four orders cancelled on me, some brands are impossible to get. We'll see how my forth (?) choice, Falken Wildpeak MTs, are performing this year. Should be mounted two weeks from now.

When I did mine I replaced the screws with stainless steel ones, I never regretted it, they do rust
