I always though the point of recycling was do do as much as possible, and avoid land fill where possible. How the feck can councils have maximum targets, when in reality it they should be encouraged to exceed a minimum level. Who sets these limits ?

My local dump wont even take a single door without charging me. Stuff like that used to get recycled in the timber skip, but apparently it's now construction waste even if you DIY. It burnt well in the garden incinerator !! I guess I've recycled it into CO2 & ash.

Our local tip now restricts you to 5ltrs of oil at a time. Always fun when I have done both cars and take it in a 20ltr container. Did find out from the very understanding site manager that at one time councils got payed for someone to take the oil away now they have to pay for the oil to be taken away, hence trying to stop people taking it to the tip. Only been stopped once but most of the time the lads on site are pretty reasonable about it.

I've heard about this before. The V8 holds 6.6 litres :( the series engines hold even more

If I went to my dump in the Series II, they try and charge you, saying it's a commercial vehicle, what you have to do now is grind it up, and make like your in a German prison camp, and scatter it in the yard outside, so it runs down your trousers kick it into the dirt... and whistle while you do it.

Save your oil for fence treatment

I've been having withdrawal symptoms since the Beeb took 'One Foot In The Grave' off the telly, but you guys have helped fill the void left by Victor Meldrew ;)
