Hi
This may seem an obvious daft question. But unfortunately I don't really know the answer.

How do you check your upper and lower shock bushes on the land rover? Take the rear shocks for example, what is actually deemed as worn for upper and lower bushes??
I appreciate if there is alot of up and down movement in the bushes, or the bottom bushes are washer to cup and no rubber. But what actually is worn?

Same applies for all other shocks really. Steering damper, radius arms etc. Am I right in saying movement along the bolt on say radius arms is fairly acceptable, but against the bolt not so much?

Photos never seem to pop up of this type of thing so its something I never really learn. Sorry if its a daft one.

Cheers guys

Thanks chaps. What about the actual thickness of the bottom bushes between the washers? I spose thats like brake pads.

Any tips on radius arms etc?

Movement is the key

Start with a good close up visual inspection if it looks intact not mushroomed out etc.

Then get a bar and lift it and try and also see if you can twist the arm

tyre lever down the side is also good.

the new MOT ramps with a shaker plate will expose any weakness..
So if you are doing it for a test have a good look.
