Coolant loss?

I was wondering why my heater was just blowing cold air so I followed advice from a previous thread about checking coolant levels.
On inspection I found it to be almost empty, my problem is that I Filled it up about 5 weeks ago give it take.
Is this a common thing or does it need looking into?

No it's not a common thing and yes it needs looking into. If you fill it above maximum it may drop a little as it finds its level but definitely shouldn't drop below the maximum mark.

Did you carry out the bleed process when you topped up the system with water ?

If you only have a Halfords as a factors locally, this is the antifreeze you need.... I'd say its cheaper at a local motor factors...

I had a coolant loss issue on my 2004 D2 TD5.
I got in the habit of checking the level daily! Some days it hadn't lost anything, other days it would need topping up.
It was very random in its leakage!
No evidence of leaks anywhere, I even used a UV trace and could only see a few spots around the engine bay.
Eventually, I dived in and changed the water pump, which cured the problem, never leaked again!
