Disco 2 Rear Brake pipes replacement price?

I've not got under to see how bad yet but during some other work it was noted rear brake pipes were corroded and should be replaced. Quote £750 labour, £72 parts + brake fluid. Anyone had these done and what sort of price are we talking? Seems a lot of labour and there was no advisory of this on the MOT 5 months ago. (its not been driving through pools of salt water since either)

are there any interim measures i should try to prolong their life? I covered the underside in Lanoguard before the winter.

750 quid, for that money I would expect new pipes all round/new calipers/master cylinder and maybe a service as well!

You will find that garages sometimes quote high when they do not want the work, and even if you ask them to do it they will sub it out and make money on it!
 
Thanks for that, I suspected as much, the garage is more geared up for those who have just finished the main dealer approach (fancy waiting rooms etc). More reasonable quote where I've been many times before £275 and tend to specialise in older models :)

I am tight af and would still say that was dear, but if you cannot diy then at a third of the price you cannot complain.
Like I said above the posh place would take the job, and farm it out to your cheaper garage then pocket the difference.

Whilst renewing brake pipes is not a difficult task, when you have the tools and some knowledge, I would suggest you are not ready for this type of work yet from what you have said. I would say anything around the £200 mark just get it done. As you said, brakes aren’t something you want to get wrong!!
 
After the annual Mot I always rub a light coat of grease on the pipes, worst are usually towards the rear. I've just had a look at my Disco (new to me) pipes are a bit awkward over the chassis but I reckon I can grease them. Likewise if I have to remove a wheel I always check and grease the pipes. Same applies to the sls pipes.

The aerosol chain grease spray is good for the bits you cannot reach, and aso localised rust.

Hell for that you could buy another D2, best to invest in tools and if your not that confident find some one who can advise you , they will probably show and help and you will learn
