I have recently changed the IRD (surprise, surprise) on my 1998 XEDI and now have the these 3 Amigos lit. I don't think there's a problem with the systems as the HDC works as long as i don't exceed about 9mph, which is when the system does a self check - i think. I believe that the system has registered a permanent fault when the IRD was removed as the wheels were turn independantly. Has anyone any idea how to reset these without going to a main dealer (can't find any local garages that have the correct equipment to reset the codes, just to read them.

Can anyone help with this. I know there are no faults on the system and it just needs a reset, do i have to take it to a dealer(£££££££).

I will not be trying that one, isn't the fuel pump fuel lubricated - turn off ignition, no fuel=no lubrication=no fuel pump!!

I have found a garage in Fareham, Hampshire that will read and reset your fault codes for £10.

BRIGG MOTORS
01329 286128.

This was compared to the dealer which was nearly £100.

can you please find out how they reset it? my friends 1.8 has the same prob. maybe just need to be reset like yours

They have the universal (read just about any year and model of car) fault code reader that plugs into the socket in the passenger footwell. He then pressed lots of buttons and reset the codes. The machine he used was very expensive so would not justify the home mechanic buying one.

Lights came on again after reset, tested the sensor that the fault finder found as faulty, resistance was 1k Ohm so it was good. Removed the sensor from the hub, cleaned the sensor and sprayed the hub and phonic wheel, reffited (AFTER GREASING WITH ANTI SIEZE) and made sure it was tight home. All lights reset after reaching 10mph(approx). If anyone has problems with these lights I would recommend pulling out each sensor from the hub (no tools required if it isn't siezed - just a push fit into a hole) fully clean the hole and sensor and refit making sure it is pushed as far down as you can. DO NOT HIT THE SENSOR WITH A HAMMER ETC AS IT WILL BE DAMAGED. The intermittent lights could be due to a sensor air gap being to big or dirt/debris between the sensor and phonic wheel.

Hope this helps.

Hi George

This might be a stupid question....
Is that the sensors at the wheels or the brake pedal sensor?

Thanks

The wheel sensors, never had a problem with the brake pedal sensor so far. When I pulled it out of the wheel hub it was full of crap which was probably dampening the signal to the ABS module/computer thingy.
