Different Maps

Hi all,
my 110 TD5 MY2002 15P has the map svloe002-svtnp003 installed. Does it make sense to install one of the later released maps svloe004-svtnp003 or svloe005-svtnp005?
Does someone knows the difference?

Hi. Those are all standard maps, the difference is only that they were made for different markets, 004 - 003 or 005 - 005 were not for Europe that's all, might not have EGR management mapped or something, not worth the hassle IMO, if you want improvement get a remap

I do not want to get an improvement, I want to get a fix of an issue: My idle speed is not steady within a certain temperature window, it's like more elongated waves between 720 - 760 revs. Additionally I have some starting issues when it's below 5°C temperature. I will create a different thread about this. For now, I just want to know if later released maps have fixes implemented?

Adjusting the map wont solve your issue.

Yeah, I know that the map file will not fix a bug in common way. My hope was that the map file contains a "fixed" value for the control loop because of the oscillating nature of the issue...on the other side, I don't want to brick my ECU for a pointless remapping if something went wrong...thats why I am asking.

lt won't do any harm to download the latest available map for the engine, l had this done on my 2005 TD5 and the engine was so much smoother afterwards.
No increase in performance just a lot smoother with less vibration.
However as stated already it's unlikely to fix a varying idle speed issue, but it won't do any harm to try.

Do not do remapping just for "fun". Normally if you upload a new map it should not do any harm, but as you will do it probably by using your Nanocom, problem could happen (as it is also written in the instruction of Nanocom for mapping). If you do it on the wrong way, or you have weak battery you can brick your ECU.
I have just done on mine but I uploaded a stage 1 remap. Everything went fine but I was prepared even with an outside power source (CTEK charger) to make sure to have stable voltage.

l think the O/P is talking about getting the Land Rover software updates for his TD5 and not an aftermarket remap.
lf they are still available that is, fifteen years after TD5 production ended.
Mine was updated when l took it in to the Land Rover dealer about three years ago, and it did drive better afterwards.
The dealer said they had to "dust off the TD5 rig and find someone who knew how to use it"

yes, no any risk that way. I know that Mario is not talking about remap but the process is the same (if you do it yourself by using Nanocom)

Can you do the updates with a Nanocom. Do you have to download them from somewhere first?

Yes you can do it by using Nanocom (you can write standard or tuning map). Probably you can get standard map from somewhere, but I do not know.
