Series 2 Tyre reccomendation/questions - Chichester area

They are from Craddocks but have a look at oponeo, camskill and blackcircles.
What size and tread pattern are you thinking of?

That looks like a HD / Wolf, in which case you can run any 235/85 16. My advice would be get an LT235/86 16 as this is the Light Truck size, its got a higher load rating and thicker sidewalls and may cost less than a std 235/85. You can tell if its the LT as it will have a 120 load rating. I got s set of these and they have been great:

OK, interesting. They are the wider tubed wheels. Very rare I believe. 6.5-16-20.6 is the Wolf and LR HD wheel size but those are clearly not Wolfs, they are however the perfect size for 235/85 tyres so you have plenty of choice. Here's the pics of my LR HD wheels, you can see the size is exactly the same.

Sweet, wasn't expecting something rare. I'll give them a good rub down and paint when the weather is less ****e. I've been meaning to.

These aren't the wheels off of a 1 ton or a fc are they?

Would 7.50s fit? Trying to keep cost down as i'm saving for a mortgage and all but i'm not going to go skimp on it since there's no point in doing something wrong twice. If i can get what you recommend at a decent price i will. I'll need 5 now though, since the spare will need a change too

Also, what's LR HD stand for? I'm assuming LR is land rover...

7.50 R 16s will fit. Obviously, if you have tube rims, use tubes.

Best tyres for a Series, in my opinion. I always use them.

You can get away with using a different size for a spare for a bit if you don't want to cough up for 5 tyres. If you have to fit it, go and get the original tyre sorted ASAP, and don't engage 4wd until you have put it back on.

To be honest, with 4 brand new tyres and tubes on cleaned up steel rims, you are going to be pretty unlucky to get a tyre go down.
I have had about 3 go down in my entire Land Rover driving over a lifetime.
So the main thing is to have a legal spare, for peace of mind, and to keep the MOT man happy.
Most MOT men don't know much about this kind of vehicle anyway now.

MOT exempt anyway. Once i've got a set of tyres and a few months savings under my belt i'm aiming to take it to chichester 4x4 for a brakes and safety check, all that crap. It isn't used a whole lot and i'd like to use it more. Especially if i end up getting a job closer to home.

A lot of people seem to get them MOTd anyway, save hassle in the event of an accident.
I don't think it is very hard to MOT one of those, because the emissions are only a visual smoke check and a basic hydrocarbon check, IIRC.
Obviously, not a good idea to put it in if you don't think it will pass.

if you do and it doesn't pass on emissions, does it really matter? since they're exempt from testing anyway and when i checked the forms it said that as long as they're kept in a safe to be on the road condition.

I am not sure. But suspect the regs that say that if a vehicle has failed an MOT, it should not be driven, may still come into play.

Ask the 4x4 place what they think would be my best suggestion, they must have had other customers ask.

That did cross my mind. Though I quite like the fact it’s got something different about it. Ive been told apparently I have a “rare” wing mirror bracket too lol. It’s a bit of a higgledypiddledy. Someone else said that it must be one of the early headlamp in wings models since the age and they’re the original wings with the rubber buffer plug hole.
No clue honestly haha
