Disco 2 Tailgate Door Won't open from outside

hey guys,

before stripping the door card thought ill get some ideas from you.

so the thing is the door won't open from the OUTSIDE, child lock is off (lever is up), OPENS fine from the inside and the central lock works fine - the lock moves up and down no problem.
the handle doesnt seems to be jammed, i removed the LR badge and sprayed a mountain of WD40 inside, didnt help.
the handle does feel "beefy" it seems to grab onto the mechanism but it wont open. doesnt seem stuck at all.

any ideas?

When mine did this it was the outside handle seizing up, it wouldn't return enough to reset into catch position are you sure it is moving up and down fully?
