If yours are butchered they were aslo fitted to lots of 70's and 80's TC cars such as Triumph Stags, Lotus Elans twincams etc. I believe all the main parts of the carbs are the same irrespective of engine size they just differ by the needle and jet and damper springs.

Plenty of info on Google mate, usually balance, idle, mixture then repeat and repeat until you get it right. There are a few tools on the Bay, if they won't send to France thrn get them to send it to me and I'll forward it. One tool I don't have, went missing years ago when someone borrowed it.it's probably the second hand one on the Bay.;):D

I should admit I fix most Strommie carbs by removing them and tossing them in the nearest skip and replacing them with one of these ;)

Wow, thank you. OK so there is a bit of investigation to do. I've not touched the float levels but there was a larger. 175 float inlet where as the originals were. 150. The result after the rebuilds is very promising compared to the original pig like running.

It is possible if the floats have been previously fiddled with that they 're installed upside down..

Which is quite easy to do IIRC.

I'm.pretty sure they are correct but never say never, I'll check against the diagram I found for what seems to be the same model if the jag v12. There is a cap missing from inside the float bowl the covers the bottoms of the jets on the pistons.

there is a video on youtube showing stromberg refurbishment by a triumph stag guy
Thanks Paul, I watched a couple of vids but only the rebuilds and couldn't find a match to these installed. I hope they are original and it's not going to be a nightmare for me to sort out. It sounds lovely when it's idling.

That blanking plug should have an O ring on it.
it shouldn't be missing ideally, part no IIRC is 488343 seems to be obsolete though!!

I've found some in a site called limara. Not sure if it's French. My thoughts are, if the caps are missing are they bleeding fuel up through the needle tube? But then it's running rich already and needing the choke?
