300tdi fuel line question

The feed pipe from my tank is the original hard nylon pipe and the union at the tank pick up is quite corroded along with the pick up pipe itself and appears damp and definate smell of diesel so i imagine has gone porous. Looking at replacing with a good quality 8mm id hose and t clamps. Only thing is there is so many specs. Being mindful that most pump fuel now contains a proportion of bio diesel can anybody recommend something suitable?

The nylon pipe is the best, handles everything. Fix what you've got.

If not replacing with std hardline, you need a minimum of R9/E5 grade fuel hose and be sure not to buy low grade fuel hose...the market is awash with crap fuel and vacuum hose. I only use Codan or Gates R9 grade hose, they never fail.

Google 8mm Codan R9 hose and buy only from a reputable supplier

eta, why not just buy std hardline? the advantage is the OD is much smaller/readily available from a host of known suppliers

Ok thanks. Looking like it might be best to stick with the nylon stuff. how easy is it remove and refit the original barbs?

Not sure what you mean having never revisited my tank in years. Is it a nut on the pipe?
What you will find useful to know is that this nylon is easy to get from pneumatic places 10mm od 8mm id and in clear(ISH) too, useful for fault finding. It can be joined with brass plumbing fittings too.
I would warm the pipe, try boiling water first then , if no luck, gentle flame until it pulls out. Or- cut the pipe just behind the barb and flame it out. Your existing pipe may be long enough to remake the connection, if not, splice a length in using a 10mm/10mm brass straight compression fitting.

Just incase you're worried, I replaced all my lines with the pneumatic stuff, in clear, using compression fittings 16yrs ago and I run 100% biodiesel. No issues.

Just ordered new pick up pipe and compression fitting. Not replacing the pipe as on second inspection appears fine ( some underseal or similar from somewhere on it made it appear chaffed ). Compression fitting is 10mm to 8mm which presented a small problem as the outside diameter of the line is 9.5!! Have been assured however a 3/8 old money olive in the 10mm ones place will work just fine. Oh and a 8mm brass tube support for the end of the pipe. Thankyou all above i will post a pic once complete.
