90 Tub to side panel seals

Evening All,

I've finally started the reassembly process on my 1989 90 and am hoping to get the side panels back on shortly, using new seals. I beleive the correct part for my year is MXC2031, but I also see ALR5055 and AML710070/60 listed (presumably for later models). My question is, is it worth fitting a later design seal, as I don't want it to leak. If so, any recommendations, or ones to avoid?
I've just fitted Britpart (Indian made) back window seals and was impressed how pliable and well fitting they were.

I used the old style series seals on my defender. In my opinion, they are better than what was fitted originally. The old ones leaked, these ones don’t. They are a foam, not rubber.

Something which has been a great success for me is, I used expanding foam along the joint on the inside and obviously cut off the excess when it had gone hard. Has stopped me slicing my fingers off when washing the cab out too.

Thanks Mackers, but as I am fitting new seals, I am expecting them to actually do their job! How hopeful of me for a Landrover part! As per Mick's suggestion, I am going to try the series seals.

Take your time with them to get them to fit perfectly. Like I said in another post, I used double sided tape all the way along the edge of the side panel, then stuck the seal to that. I think it’s important to point out here that I stuck the seals on “upside down”. What I mean is these seals have a “lip” that is designed to fit into a groove on series sides, defender sides don’t have this groove. I placed that lip downwards, and facing the outside of the vehicle, hoping it would create a sort of channel for the water to run along, as apposed to in. It’s worked so far.
