P38A Dreaded EAS fault (Max 35MPH) is this going to empty my wallet ?

I once had to drive roughly 100 miles home on 3 airbags, 3 shocks and a piece of a log. Some of it (10miles)was rough trail coming down the mountain in the dark..but the rest was 60mph on the freeway. Not fun, at all...

Cant imagine doing 150miles on all four bump stops...

If you can get a hold of some 6mm PTC schrader valves, I would highly recommend getting those and try doing a manual pump up to make it home. If you plan to run EAS its a good idea to have some as a backup anyways..

If you do manage to get some valves and it turns out one or more airbags are blown this is one way to get you home! (Use this as a last resort and use plenty of caution of course!)

Also you can reach under the seat and pull the eas relay and get the "35max" beeping to stop. Replace it when everything is fixed and itll go back to normal.

Don't know if this will work : @domino didn't you use someone in Inverness?

That's quite the memory you have, @gold rover! I had the same problem; 5 adults, a dog and boot full of luggage at the time. I stopped at a Garage in Inverness, think it was on Harbour Road. He managed to kick it back in to life so I could carry on to Skye. Got another 50-60 miles before it was on fault again though.

Don't drive it that distance with knackered EAS. Been there, done it.. And it's just not worth it. I'd head in to HIS (Highland Industrial Supplies Ltd) and get some schrader valves, pump her up and pull the relay. There's a 4x4 outfit just beside them too that may be able to help but it's been a while since I was up that neck of the woods.

For the record, I found a guy on Skye, remote as all hell, who had a barn with a post lift and a few p38's - he had EAS software on his laptop. He let me take the cable and his laptop away with me so I could get everyone home. I posted it back up to him. The guy was a legend.

Is there anyone with a Nanocom on the LZIR map up there?

Drove 10 miles on the bumpstops once. Absolutely horrible experience. 150 miles doesn't bear thinking about. Marty hires out EAS-kickers; maybe he could overnight it up?

What's the compressor output? I always carry a spare.

I doubt disconnecting the battery overnight will do much but desperate times ...

sounds like the Schraeder valve trick might be the best idea.

just so I’m clear, is there a guide to this anywhere ?

do I disconnect the pipe from the EAS to each airbag snd screw the Schraeder valve in in its place ? Is this procedure reversible ?

Valve block is under the bonnet. Black box with "EAS" stamped on it. Its easier to access in the down condition than normal:p

You only need the valves, an air source, and a flat head screwdriver helps.

I see that now, so unclip the airlines and connect the valves directly to the airlines at the air lock.

that should get us home. (Assuming no leaks !)

Look at the install instruction for the link I sent. Pretty much explains everything.

Big black relay under the passenger seat,should be visable or feeable its the door side
 
Ordinarily I'd have driven up to Inverness to help out but with the current situation and the fact I've got the RR in bits much to my wife's pleasure, I couldn't get away with the 5 hour excursion heh.

I'd have thought there must be someone up there with Nanocom. The valves will sort it though - just get to HIS and you'll be fine.
 
If you get the collets with the Schraeder valves then they just fit on the air lines. Easily reversible they just pop out when you press the collet same as pressing the collet will take pipes out of valve block

did search at euro car parts and Halfords but nothing much other than bicycle bits :(

Something just clicked at the back of my head, whilst I was trying to think of the guy whose name starts with H. Didn't get Hamish, but somehow remembered you had issues when up that way :)

The emergency inflation kit typically has the Schrader valves attached to a short piece of airline and tgen a T-,piece connector although straight connector better. Ebay is best bet.

Pump to 50psi per corner and then 5 psi increments per corner.
 
Yeah, tried HIS and Hamish at 4x4 with no joy at all..

Now trying Macgregor’s industrial supplies but kinda running out of options and starting to worry !
