Good news, did you also change the crank sensor?
No pal i have got one to hand though i ordered one but the fuel filter arrived first so i changed that , want to run the car for a while to eliminate the problem and see if it was fixed which it is so i will be changing the crank sensor anyway as i have at and its cheap also

Yeah, that's why I asked, it could be seen that it was definitely the filter then. Which make filter was the 'pattern' version causing the problems?

I've been reading that aftermarket, non OE filters can cause low power issues, especially when it's warm. Apparently the thermostat in the filter doesn't allow cool fuel from the tank to enter the injectors, which has a detrimental affect on performance.

Of course I've got an aftermarket filter on mine too, so looks like I'll be changing that sooner than expected. :(
