Got a message on the dash advising low battery in the key fob.
Changed the key fob battery..... now the car completely fails to respond to the fob.
Perhaps there is some synchronising required? It might tell me in the owners manual - but that is in the car which is locked.
I have tried unlocking using the actual key in the passenger door - but that will not unlock it.

Any suggestions - other than set it on fire which is might tempting right now?

Really annoyingly - it is blocking the drive - so no member of the family can get out at all! This will be particularly awkward in the morning!

Update - change battery back to old one - everything worked fine!

Put new one back in again - also everything working fine.

So all that is not working now is the spare fob that has never worked and neither emergency key actually opens the passenger door - so lets just hope I never need that function then!

you can get the owners manual on the facebook page Range rover owners in the file section.

OK - sussed it.

Following a post I saw about cleaning the battery terminals - Before I inserted the new battery in the 1st fob for the 2nd time - I cleaned a tiny amount of sticky residue off it from a 'Harmful if swallowed' label that Duracell helpfully cover their CR2032 battery with:mad:. Then it worked. Did the same for the new battery in the 2nd key fob and its a miracle! They both work!:D

Better sort out the key not unlocking the door just in case as well, glad I checked out mine not working and fixed it when couple of days ago neither fob would unlock the car so unlock with key then ignition on to kill alarm and strangely both fobs worked after.

Life was so much easier in the old days when all you had was a key, for some cars, e.g. Fords, any key would do. True, it was easier to steal cars then but at least you didn't have the embarrassment of being locked out of you own car in the Sainsburies carpark.
